Worksource Three Rivers will be hosting High Demand Career Initiative sub-regional meetings on Feb. 15 and 16 to provide updates on its Manufacturing Sector Partnership project. The meetings, led by Austin-based Avalanche Consulting, will include updates on the project, findings from an initial workforce analysis, and discussions on the future partnership.

The Manufacturing Sector Partnership will seek to improve the availability of skilled labor for manufacturing employers in Butts, Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Lamar, Meriwether, Pike, Spalding, Troup and Upson Counties by expanding workforce and learning opportunities within the manufacturing sector, the Three Rivers Regional Commission said in a statement. The three-phase project includes an online talent portal, manufacturing sector analysis, and a Manufacturing Sector Partnership strategy.

The project is funded by WorkSource Three Rivers, and led by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce and Avalanche Consulting. For more information on the Manufacturing Sector Partnership, visit the project website at www.threeriversworks.com.

Avalanche Consulting is still seeking input from area manufacturers in order to develop a comprehensive list of job occupations needed by area employers, credentials required for potential employees to be job ready, and to incorporate the data into the talent portal so area residents can be guided to the right training provider to obtain training credentials, Three Rivers said. Interested manufacturers are encouraged to attend one of the sub-regional meetings, and visit www.threeriversworks.com to fill out the employer survey form.

The first HDCI sub-regional meeting is scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in Griffin at the Griffin Regional Welcome Center, located at 143 North Hill St. The meeting will focus on manufacturing located n Spalding, Butts, Lamar, Pike and Upson counties.

The second HDCI sub-regional meeting is scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in LaGrange at the chamber of commerce office located at 111 Bull Street. The meeting will focus on manufacturing in Troup, Carroll, Heard, Meriwether and Coweta counties.

Worksource Three Rivers is the regional workforce development program overseen by the Three Rivers Workforce Development Board, and administered by the Three Rivers Regional Commission. The 10-county workforce development area includes the west-central Georgia counties of Butts, Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Lamar, Meriwether, Pike, Spalding, Troup and Upson.
